What is transistor? | how it works?

FRIENDS.
Transistor
A transistor
is a semiconductor device used to amplify and switch
electronic signals and electrical power.
It is
composed of P- type & N- type semiconductive materials with at least
three terminals for connection to an external circuit.
A voltage or
current applied to one pair of the transistor's terminals changes the current
flowing through another pair of terminals. Because the controlled (output)
power can be higher than the controlling (input) power, a transistor can
amplify a signal.
The three
legs of transistor are
Collector
Base
Emitter
As shown
below
But in
different transistors the pin order changes, and to know pinouts, search for
pinouts of particular transistor.
There are
two basic types In transistor.
NPN
& PNP.
The
image shows the structure & symbol of both NPN & PNP transistor.
You can
see the arrow on symbols to identify the NPN & PNP transistor.
THERE
ARE MANY SHAPE & SIZES OF TRANSISTOR, AVAILABLE IN MARKET, AS SHOWN BELOW.
And we
use (BC547, NPN) & (BC548, PNP) Transistor commonly In our projects.
